Summary
The Manager, Investments, will be a key team member responsible for supporting Treaty Oak’s investment decision-making process across its portfolio of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects. This individual will work across the full project lifecycle—from early-stage development diligence through Final Investment Decision (FID) and into construction and operations—interfacing with Macquarie and internal cross-functional teams to drive rigorous, well-supported investment recommendations.
The Manager, Investments, will lead and manage complex financial models, coordinate due diligence work streams, evaluate regulatory and market risks, support interconnection and offtake strategy, and prepare investment materials for internal and Sponsor-level approvals. The position will report directly to the Manager, Investments, as part of the current team of 10 project finance and M&A professionals.
For this high-growth opportunity role, Treaty Oak is seeking an individual with significant knowledge of renewable energy project fundamentals, tax equity modeling skills, financial modeling best practices, and the regulatory, interconnection, and power market dynamics that drive investment outcomes in the utility-scale solar and BESS sectors.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead preparation of investment memoranda, FID packages, and supporting materials for internal Investment Committee and Macquarie approval processes
· Develop, manage, and quality-control fully structured project financial models to analyze project, partnership, and sponsor-level economics for solar and BESS projects; synthesize and communicate key findings and sensitivities to senior management and the Sponsor
· Prepare marketing materials (e.g., teasers and CIMs) for internal and external stakeholders / financing processes
· Procure and scrutinize third-party reports (e.g., IE, transmission, market, insurance, tax projections, and ITC cost segs) and project documentation (e.g. PPAs, EPC agreements, GIAs, equipment supply agreements, and O&M contracts) to accurately determine and integrate assumptions into financial models
· Manage and coordinate external platform-level capital raising processes including coordinating with advisors, investors, and third-party diligence reports to aid in the timely execution of key financing workstreams
· Manage and coordinate due diligence work streams across legal, tax, insurance, environmental, engineering, and market consultants, ensuring timely and accurate integration of third-party findings into investment recommendations
· Evaluate and advise on regulatory compliance matters affecting project economics and eligibility, including FEOC/PFE rules, IRA tax credit requirements (ITC/PTC, domestic content, energy community), Safe Harbor strategies, and trade policy
· Monitor and assess interconnection queue dynamics, network upgrade cost exposure, and milestone risks across MISO, ERCOT, PJM, and other relevant ISOs/RTOs; collaborate with the Interconnection team to inform go/no-go and capital allocation decisions
· Support the Development, Engineering, and Procurement departments on early-stage evaluation of potential project designs, equipment selection, financing structures, and key economic drivers (e.g., DC:AC ratios, degradation assumptions, tax abatements)
· Manage, mentor, and provide guidance to junior team members
· Communicate and build relationships effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders
Education and Qualifications
· 5+ years of renewable energy experience in project finance, corporate finance, or investment banking
· Exceptional Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint skills, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel formulas, financial model creation and best practices, and comfort understanding typical project finance macros / VBA code
· Knowledge of renewable energy (solar and storage) project economic drivers and related tax incentives
· Understanding of current tax credit monetization structures (e.g. partnership flips, credit transfers, hybrid, and accommodation partner / preferred equity structures) and construction-to-term debt financing, with a capability to economically model such structures
· Comfort working in a demanding, deal-oriented team with recurring deadlines
· Experience preparing investment memoranda, board materials, and financing marketing materials (teasers, CIMs) for sophisticated institutional audiences
· Outstanding critical thinking skills, inquisitiveness, and resourcefulness / ability to work independently
· Ability to dynamically prioritize various tasks and meet assigned deadlines in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
· Familiarity with interconnection processes, power market fundamentals, and the regulatory landscape affecting utility-scale renewables
· Experience managing due diligence processes, external consultants, and data rooms for project-level or portfolio-level transactions
