The Role
Treaty Oak is seeking a Manager, New Projects to manage the evaluation of acquisitions and the siting and origination of greenfield projects. The Manager will coordinate the multi-phase due diligence processes and assist in the execution of key workstreams across the Company’s prospective pipeline of utility-scale solar and battery storage projects. This position reports directly to the Senior Director, Development Services. This position will collaborate closely with the Investments M&A Team and TOCE subject matter experts.
For this high-growth opportunity with exposure to significant deal flow and access to key decision makers, a successful candidate will have 4-6 years of experience in project development, business development, greenfielding, and/or M&A at an independent power producer. The candidate should bring some combination of experience in mid- and late-stage project development, greenfield prospecting, business development, and/or M&A due diligence processes. A successful candidate will have a proven track record of coordinating cross-functional teams and translating technical information to non-technical audiences. Experience working at an independent power producer is required.
Key Responsibilities
Support the evaluation of potential acquisitions and greenfield prospect opportunities using GIS based tools
Manage a multi-phase due diligence process
Assist in the preparation of presentation materials for senior leadership and for the board
Manage external consultants to support due diligence as appropriate
Coordinate cross-functional due diligence workstreams for potential acquisition and greenfield opportunities
Lead due diligence meetings with subject matter experts and translate SME feedback into a holistic view of project risk
Collaborate with the Investments M&A and Development Team to form a view on acquisition viability and value
Education and Qualifications
BA/BS in environmental studies, business, economics, engineering, policy, or other relevant field. MA/MS preferred.
Highly proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint
ArcGIS experience preferred
Minimum 3 years of experience at an independent power producer
Highly resourceful and able to work in an entrepreneurial environment
Comfort working on a cross-functional team in a dynamic, fast-moving, and high-stakes work environment
Excellent communicator and comfortable translating technical information to non-technical audiences
High level of emotional intelligence and empathy
Comfort working in a transaction-based environment with tight deadlines dictated by deal flow
Driven and hard-working individual with a sense of ownership over their own work product
Ability to work in-person from Treaty Oak’s Austin, Texas headquarters at least four days per week
